Under the Mistletoe projects for Color Me Daisy

The December kit from Color Me Daisy features papers from Pink Paislee's Mistletoe & Co. collection and others from the Fancy Pants Christmas Magic collection. Embellishments are from Maya Road and Prima, ribbons from Fancy Pants and much more. I've had so much fun playing with this kit and have been anxious for the chance to finally be able to share these with you!

I made this page using the polka dot paper from Pink Paislee and the floral from Fancy Pants. I punched some 1-inch circles and cut them in half for the scalloped border at the left edge of my main picture.
Journaling reads: There is something special about putting up decorations
at the beginning of the holiday season.

detail shot of the ribbon and snowflakes

I inked the centers of the Prima rose, made some leaves from the Fancy Pants paper, cut some snowflakes from the My Little Yellow Bicycle diecut paper.

I interviewed Sarah for this fun page using the Pink Paislee Mistletoe & Co collection.

And a couple of quick cards.

Those Pink Paislee Mistletoe & Co. punchouts are so perfect for Christmas cards!

Thanks again for stopping by today! I hope I've given you lots of fun things to look at. Please feel free to leave a comment to let me know what you liked best.

Pink Paislee Mistletoe & Co.

I will have lots more to share with you later today as I mentioned in my last post but for now I thought I'd share with you a page that I created using some Pink Paislee Mistletoe & Co. and Amber Road products which mix amazingly well.

These are pictures of my Hailey, a silly 5 year old who loves all things Christmas. I love how her eyes sparkle like the tinsel she is wearing.

and a couple of detail shots:

Along with the Pink Paislee papers and brads and tags I also used some Prima cherry blossoms and a Quillen rose, Maya Road stick pins and a bit of baker's twine. Isn't that Pink Paislee postage mark so cool?!

Like I said before, I LOVE how the Pink Paislee collections work so well together.

Happy Holidays to you!

an ode to Pink Paislee

If you keep up with things going on in the scrapbooking industry you know that Pink Paislee is holding a call for their 2010 creative team. What an incredible experience this would be, right? Their products are consistently amazing and I've been a fan since they first started a couple of years ago. While I know that there will be hundreds of talented scrappers trying for this call I just HAVE to try for it because you just never know, RIGHT??  Maybe one day it will be my turn to make a fantastic team like TEAM PINK! It would be incredible to make the team but even if not, I have fun trying.

Just to show how much I love Pink Paislee I thought I'd do a special post to show you some of the Pink projects I've done in the past. Now you have to remember that some of these first ones are old, more than a YEAR old, so hopefully they aren't too bad, lol. I just want to show you how much I love Pink Paislee. One thing I really love about Pink Paislee products is that you can combine many of the lines and it looks PERFECT together. I love that. You'll be able to see how I combined some of the lines in the projects below.

These two are really old but show you the beautiful Spring Fling collection.

Here's some Vintage Moon paper- perfect for Halloween and other themes as well. I thought
it would go well with this beach picture of Matt and Sarah.

More Spring Fling.

The lovely Winsome Captivating papers.

The cute Office Lingo collection

More Winsome Captivating papers.

Winsome Captivating

Winsome Enchanting

A mix of Office Lingo and Pop Fashion papers and embellishments from other collections.

I used some Mistletoe & Co. paper here with a lot of other manufacturers to show
how easily you can mix different patterned papers.

Amber Road

And some more Amber Road

And more and more Amber Road.

Winsome Fetching cards

And some more Amber Road.

And lastly, some Winsome Fascinating, Captivating and Fetching

So, there you have it. Some old and some new but all made with lovely Pink Paislee. I have some other projects in the works for Color Me Daisy using the beautiful "Mistletoe and Co." collection. As soon as their reveal is up I can share those with you so check back later today or tomorrow for those!

being thankful

It's interesting to me that at this time of the year we focus so much on being grateful, recognizing the blessings we enjoy year-round, looking for opportunities to help and to give.

I hope that I find myself being thankful every day of the year and not just now, not just on Thanksgiving Day and not just during this holiday season.

I have so much to be thankful for.

-my health (though over the last couple of months I have forgotten what it really feels like to be healthy- I can't seem to get feeling better and we keep getting hit with other bugs and I just feel- yuck- but there are so many others who are worse off than I am. We have a friend whose dad is dying from brain cancer. So, I am thankful for my health.

-my family. (I have a wonderful, loving husband and three sweet girls who can cause a few grey hairs now and then but I love them, they are all I have and I am so thankful. We also have family in town this week and we've been able to spend some time with them. Because Sarah was sick last night I don't know if she and I will be able to spend Thanksgiving with everyone but still, they are here. We have family and it's such a blessing. My own side of the family is far away and I miss being able to see them.

-a warm home. (Yes, our house is larger than perhaps I think we need, it's a pain to keep clean but it's warm, it protects us from the storms that pass through and inside it we try to daily share love with one another.)

-a loving Father in Heaven. (I could not forget this because it is the most important and the reason I have everything else. I don't often get religious on this blog, not that I am hiding my beliefs but most of this blog is scrapbooking related and I neglect to talk about other things at times. But, I am thankful for a Savior who died for me and a Heavenly Father who allowed Him to do so for me and my shortcomings. One of these days I just might get it right, I just might have a day when I feel at peace with how I've conducted myself but usually I have lots of things that I wish I'd done better. So, I am thankful)

-food to eat. (We have been preparing a feast for todays festivities and today- pies and rolls and turkey and all the trimmings- Sarah and I will probably not get to partake of those yummy things but we will not go without food to eat. I spent a year and a half as a missionary in Bolivia about ten years ago and I saw hunger like you would not believe. People didn't know where the next meal would come from and so I am again thankful.)

-a good job. (Matt has a great job, one that allows me to stay home with the girls and attempt to be domestic. I will admit that my home is less than tidy but we have fun, the girls are happy most of the time and I love being home with them. We have more than we need. I can buy scrappy supplies and not worry that doing so will cut into our food budget. I am so very thankful.)

I hope that we'll all take a look at what we are grateful for today.

Christmas cheer with My Scrapbook Nook

Isn't this the most wonderful time of the year?

I know that a lot of people struggle this time of year because of various reasons but today I choose to be thankful for my family and how very blessed I am.

We had such a great time last night with family on the Polar Express. It was so wonderful to have all of us together for something so fun. I'll have to post some pictures later but right now I'm trying to hurry so I can get breakfast started.

My head is still dizzy and swaying from the motion of the train (I am sure we have some medicine to help with that) and my stomach isn't feeling so great today but I am going to try to ignore that so I can have some fun times with the girls and with our family in town for Thanksgiving.

I have another layout to share with you using My Scrapbook Nook's December kit!

Here is sweet Hailey all decked out in Santa hat and some fun glitter garlands.

A little hand stitching and cute MM chipboard embellishments

Those lovely Prima newsprint flowers I've come to love.

Thank you once again for stopping by today. I hope it's a great day for you.

December kit from Color Me Daisy and an angel girl

I got this kit in the mail the other day and am so glad that I chose for my design team rotation to start in December. You see, at Color Me Daisy we are on a month-on-month off rotation. It's kinda nice because we get a bit of a break and then we're so excited for it to be our turn to receive the kits.

I am so very excited to share with you some pictures from our December kit, "Under the Mistletoe," featuring Pink Paislee and Fancy Pants papers, lovely Prima newsprint flowers, Maya Road flowers and lots of fun trims and other things. Well, you can see some of it for yourself in these pictures that Michelle shared with everyone on the CMD blog.

Doesn't it look pretty? It's not the traditional red and green but I LOVE it!!

I am going to start working with this kit today so I'll have some little sneaks to share with you soon.

Have a great day!!

Oh, before I go, I told you that we put up our Christmas tree on Saturday. Well, yesterday Aimee pulled it down. Half of the ornaments are still scattered in the front room because yesterday was a busy day. Thankfully only one broke, and no one got hurt. I was kinda hoping to get a picture of Aimee standing by her conquest but she got away too quickly.

And, on another note...Hailey did beautifully on her solo at church yesterday. She sounded and looked like a little angel as she sweetly sang, "Jesus came to John the Baptist in Judea long ago..."

And, do you you know what? She was so sick yesterday. She threw up twice before 8:30 and I worried...she'd been so looking forward to singing her song for the kids' program and was so sad that she might have to miss it. Me, too. So, I let her rest, or, more accurately, I MADE her rest so that she could maybe feel better and do her song. She started looking and feeling better before we had to leave for church (this was the first day that I was actually thankful for the 12:30 church schedule) so we got her ready and she was able to sing her song but I noticed that toward the end of the program she was looking a bit yellow again and I worried. I knew she was tired, she kept yawning the whole hour of the program, but she made it through. I wanted to take her home to rest but she insisted on staying for her classes and Matt gave in...and she got sick during class. Poor sweet girl, she has to stay home from school today.

I'll show you a picture of her all dressed up and ready for her performance later on today. Now I need to go take care of my sick girl.

decking our halls

I know that it's not even Thanksgiving, and usually we wait until then to put up the tree and other decorations but this year the girls were anxious and I certainly can't complain.

I love Christmas and all things having to do with Christmas. It doesn't bother me at all to put the tree up before Thanksgiving, to listen to Christmas music whenever I feel like it even if it's in September, to make Christmas cookies in October. Why wait, right?

So, I had Matt haul everything down from the attic on Friday morning and yesterday the girls and I got the tree up and part way decorated while Matt was at work. I hate that he has to work on Saturdays sometimes because he ends up having to miss out on things like this.

Anyway, the girls did a great job decorating the tree and they can't wait for me to find more for them to do. It's funny how they like to shove the little balls onto the tree- instead of using an ornament hanger they push the end of the branch through the tiny opening on the ornament so the balls all end up right on the ends of the branches instead of some on the outside and some in the center of the tree. I think it's cute, and hey, it works.

Aimee is very excited about the lights and glitter of Christmas this year. Last year she was still so little. Now she finally has more of a clue about what is going on.

This year I'd love to put up a second tree in the living room but for now we'll settle for the one in the front room, right in front of the window so all can see. With the two homes we've built I have insisted on having a floor plan that allows us to put our Christmas tree in the front window so that we and others can see it as we drive by. I love that.

The tree isn't perfect, there are tons of red balls clumped together and then clumps of green on other parts of the tree, multiple ornaments all on the same branch but the girls had fun and that's what matters, right?

We have family in town for Thanksgiving so I won't get to do much decorating right now but little by little things are coming out of boxes- Nutcrackers, the Little People nativity scene, the musical snow globes, all of the garlands and wreaths and other pretty and festive things. Oh, and I can't forget about the singing snowman with the little dog that pees on him as he sings "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas...and may all your Christmases be...dry- yeah, quite festive. I can't remember who gave that to us last year but the girls seem to be enjoying it and laugh and laugh and laugh. "Puppy wet on no-man" says Aimee as she laughs some more. Yeah, so very festive.

I love Christmas. It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

Time to think about giving to others instead of just thinking about yourself, time to pull out the old Andy Williams Christmas cds, to listen to Karen Carpenter sing, drinking eggnog and making sugar cookies and fudge. I love it.

Naughty or nice? another Nook December layout

This Sarah can be the sweetest little thing when she's sweet.

But, when she's not being sweet she can be pretty darn naughty.

She has been pretty naughty at times this year, especially over the last few months when it's seemed that she is trying to make it her goal to turn all of my hair gray with her antics.

Where do I start?

She leaves strange concoctions of things all over the house, she loves to get into the water and get it all over the carpet, she took apart my wedding bouquet, filled one of my candles with good hand lotion, glued multiple drawings to the wall, and multiple other things.

But, despite these things and more she can be the sweetest little girl, the first to help someone in need, always saying, "Mommy, I have something to tell you- I love you SO SO much." She is a sweetheart to Aimee and a great playmate for Hailey. She is a good helper when she wants to be and makes me smile.

So, here she is in another layout made using the December kit from My Scrapbook Nook. Everything you see is from the main kit except for the journal spot, the little flower next to that spot and the green question mark after the title. It's SUCH a fun kit to play with.

yeah, i realize that's a pretty cruddy picture of the layout. I'll have to take a new one later.

pretty cheesy journaling but I ran out of room.

The little spots on one of the pieces of patterned paper was perfect for this title

I added some little white dots to the Prima alphas included in the kit.

I have been working hard to get some of these kit projects done and hope to share another with you later.

getting in the mood for Christmas

My December Scrapbook Nook kit arrived and as I knew from the pictures it is GORGEOUS! I love the classic, pretty Christmas colors and the beautiful Prima newsprint flowers and lovely trims and things included in the kit.

We were so sick at Christmas time last year, Matt and I still were anyway, so I don't have a lot of pictures from last Christmas. So, because I was anxious to start working with my kit I grabbed some Christmas decorations from Walmart one morning (all of our stuff is still packed away up in the attic and Matt needs to find some time to haul it all down) and took some pictures of the girls.

Wouldn't you just know that they pictures and the kit go perfectly together?!

I was so pleased!!! I added some fun doodling, some hand stitching and used some of the embellishments (snowflakes, acetate trees, rhinestones) from the Making Memories kit.

Can I tell you how much I LOVE those Prima newsprint flowers!!! For this layout I inked the outer petals in two shades of green and then inked the center with red and I kinda like how it turned out.

I hope you are having a great day!
